Sinecures
In this case, as in as well as the case of that class of offices,
he service of which is confined to the public at large,
the principle of such may also be applied, and with
no less advantage.
In this case, the fees being at the institution
of the office settled at such a rate as to afford by their expected aggregate amount, what was then regarded as a
proper necessary retribution and no more, suppose the average notional
of these to encrease have encrease would to a sum considerably
greater than that aggregate. In such case, if the
service in question is it be regarded as a proper subject
for taxation? If so, the principle of sale if applicable with
advantage in regard to the other class of offices of the
other class will not be unapplicable or applicable
with less advantage to them: if not, then upon the as the first
happening of a vacancy of the office vacancy that takes place in the office by the
ought to be rid a reduction ought to take place in
the quantum of each fee.
