Ch. Opinion of the Finance Committee of 1797-8 as to
the proper source fund for official emolument remuneration
Such, as it above, was the state in which official
opinion was found by the Finance Committee of 1797-8
upon on their entrance into their charge.
By this new authority, the expedient institution of a fee paid
with its antagonizing features, viz. fixation of emolument
and preservation of fees of payment by fees, was taken up and applied
to various departments.
At the time of this the 27th of their 36 Reports
thus the course of their enquiry brought them to the Courts
of Justice.
Here, but without attempting any such task as that of
proposing the respective quantum of the emolument proposed to be fixt fixation of salari emoluments, they suggest introduced
into this department the suggestion of a fee fund that
fixation of this sort by means of the already established
expedient of a the fee fund.
