Officers of
Commissioner
may Command
the Service of the
Constable of the
Night, the Watch
Patrole and
Beadles —
And be it further enacted, That in case the
said Commissioners or any of them, or any person or
persons being an Officer, or Officers of the said
Commissioners shall want any assistance from the
Constable or Headborough of the night, or the
Watchmen, patrole, or Beadles, or any of them, than and
in every such Case, such Constable or Headborough
Constables or Headboroughs, and such Watchman
patrole or beadle or Watchmen, patroles and beadles
is and are hereby severally required immediately
to obey, repair to, and assist such Commissioners
or Officer or Officers, by the best ways, and means
in his or their power, and as the cause may require.
This provision,
in the extent of it
seems likely to
cause much distress
as the description
of persons who
are at present bound
by law to serve the
office of constable
will never submit
to be under the
command of the
inferior officers
of the Commrs
