No Justice or his Clerk
to take Fees under the
Penalty of £100
AND be it further Enacted that after the Establishment
of such public Offices as aforesaid for transacting the business of
a Justice of peace shall be made in or near the aforesaid places
and such establishment shall have been Notified in the London
Gazette no Justice or Justices of the Peace, nor any Clerk or Clerks
of any Justice, or Justices acting within the said Districts shall upon
any pretence or under any Color whatsoever take any Money or
other thing by way of fee or recompence for any Trouble
Attendance or skill in doing the business of a Justice of peace
or of a Clerk to a Justice of Peace AND if any person or
persons shall do otherwise every one so offending shall forfeit
and pay the sum of One hundred pounds for every time he
or they shall have so Offended, which sum of one hundred
pounds shall be recovered in the same manner as that last
before mentioned./.
