Officers appointed
by the residing
Justice to be
ipso facto Constables
And be it further enacted that all and every person
and persons nominated and appointed by the respective Justices
residing at any of the said offices within the said District to be
an Officer, or Officers of the said several public offices for the
Service of any summons, warrant, order, or precept signed
by any Justice as aforesaid, and who shall be entered as such in
a Book to be kept for that purpose at the said several Offices
respectively, shall be adjudged, deemed and taken to all
intents and purposes to be a Constable, and shall within
the said District and every part thereof immediately have
and enjoy all such authority and power for the purpose of
keeping the peace, and all such benefit, privilege, and
advantage in any Suit, Action, Information or other proceeding
in due course of Law as any Constable or Headborough,
duly and lawfully appointed now has, or hereafter may
have by virtue of any Law or Custom or of any Act or Acts heretofore
made or hereafter to be made, or by virtue of this present
Act. And that a Certificate of such Entry under the hand and
seal of such residing Justice shall be sufficient evidence in
all cases whatsoever that such person or persons, is or are
nominated and appointed as aforesaid by such
residing Justice to be an Officer or Officers of
such public Office - And every residing Justice is
hereby required to be sent to the Secretary of the said
Commissioner a true list of the Names and places of abode of
all and every officer and officers so by him appointed. -
