And be it further enacted, that if any Constable,
Headborough, Beadle, Watchman, or patrole, or other ministerial
Officer of the peace appointed in and for any of the said parishes,
liberties, precincts, or places, or any Officer so as aforesaid --
Justices may fine
Officers appointed by
themselves or by the
Commissioners, or any
parochial Officer for
misbehaviour, or neglect
of Duty, in not more
than £10.
appointed and entred in the book of the Secretary of the said
Commissioners, or so as aforesaid appointed and entred in the
Book of any of the said public Offices respectively, shall be
proved before any Justice or Justices of the peace within the
said District, on the oath of one credible Witness to have been
guilty of any Misbehaviour negligence, or omission respecting
any matter or thing required by this Act, or by any other Act
of parliament for any such Constable, Beadle, Watchman,
patrole or Officer respectively to be done or performed, and for
which misbehaviour, negligence, or omission, there is no forfeiture
penalty, or punishment in this present Act specifically provided.
The said person or persons so offending shall forfeit any
sum that such Justice or Justices in their discretion shall think
fit, not exceeding ten pounds.
