And be it further enacted, that as often as any
riot, rout, or unlawfull assembly shall happen or be
apprehended, it shall be lawfull for the said Commissioners
or any of them to call in the Assistance of all or any
of the said appointed justices; who are hereby required to Appointed Justices
to attend on the
call of the
Commissioners to
Suppress and prevent
Riots & c. .
attend in person, together with their said respective
appointed constables at such time and Place as the
said Commissioners or any of them shall direct, and
then and there dispose themselves and their Constables,
and act in such manner as shall seem best to the
said Commissioners or any one of them for suppressing
or preventing such riot, rout, or unlawfull assembly and if any
Justice shall fail in any of the aforesaid particular
|not having a reasonable excuse for such failure
he shall forfeit the sum of £100 to be recovered by
action of Debt to be brought in the name of his
Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Home
Department.
