Panopt. Outlets Approach. Chapel — Bath

In the Yards
the Inspector's
Look-out has
an Alarm-Bell
with or without
a bell handle
communicating
by a wire with
a Bell in the
Guard House

Chapel

The floor of the
Chapel should
be pierced not
with a central
hole, but with
frequent trap-doors.
The central apertures
occasion
an unnecessary
consumption of
room: and the
railing they are
surround'd with
an unnecessary
expence.

The rooms under
the Chapel may
serve for the stowage
of dry lumber,
but not
of vegetables liable
of fermentation,
or any thing that
would smell.

Chapel

The Chapel wou'd
form two Schools
One between on the floor for reading
or writing

One on the Galleries
for writing or reading.

The station of the
Master might be
in the pulpit: turning
his back face
to those to whom
the Minister turns
his back

The seats in the
Chapel should be
circular benches —
composed of moveable
stools — each
3-legged for stability:
with hooks
and eyes to hook
together

Cut off the view
of the opposite
Cells by drape
curtains from upper Gallery
lower Gallery
in the Chapel

The Inspector's Galleries
will have the
property of whispering
Galleries, which will
be a convenience.

Bath & Wash-tub

The same vessel
that does for the
Wash Warm-bath may do for
washing.
Bentham or Cray
& Hancocks Machines

The Entrance

Entrance — but
one, and that
in full view of
the Governor's House
and in particular
of the room he commonly
sits in:
so that no one
may come in
without being liable
to be seen by
him.

There is no reason
why entrances
should be multiplied —
The more
entrances, the more
Porters.

No reason why
visitors sh
the same entrance
should not serve
for Prisoners &
for Visitors— Each
Prisoner will have
to come in but once.

The same Porter
who does for the
Prison part will
do for the Governor's
House.

The company
for the Chapel
Galleries as well
as Area should
get to their places
without going
through the
Airing-Yards.

Look-out

Covered-Way —
Means of preventing obviating
the through
light

Windows interrupted
be not
opposite but
alternative

Opposite windows
not in the same
plane

The covered way
as far as it
goes will serve
instead of the separation
wall.

Communications
between
the different floors
of the Inspector's
Gallery

Landing place
for heavy or bulky
articles
hoisted up from
below — such as
Weavers looms
Potatoe pan for
the dinner.
