of the act of punishment, what is natural most natural and usual is that the
person in whom the new let of evil is meant to beinflicted shouldshall
be the person by whom, as supposed, the first evil was
produced. But though the thus made of the
person in whom the evil shall be inflicted is the most
natural and usual device, it is not the only 19
