Analogy
Ins:

throughout the earth with the punishment [in question]
of fire, it seems reasonable to conclude that he
would at least have provided that for it's being so
punished among his own people, the Jews. But
in the Jewish Law it is only provided that such
offender's shall be "put to death" generally: just
as persons guilty of many kinds kind several kinds of incest and the offence of performing conjugal duty at an unreasonable time are to be punished. As a
proof that fire burning was not particularly intended but
rather was excluded, in the next verse a particular
kind of incest is mentioned, that of him
who has knowledge of a mother and her daughter:
and for this the punishment of burning to death s
especially provided appointed. Levit Ch. 20 XV XX.13.14.

3. It is not said that this was the only offence one
nor even the greatest, of those offences which the cities
in question were destroy'd. The offences imputed
to them are in our translation termed by the general name of
"wickedness"|| II Genes. ch.18. "iniquity"# # Ibid. ch.19. v.15 and their conduct opposed to "righteousness"||.
The Canaanites in question could not be
more culpable than the antient Greeks in that which
is te deemed the most virtuous period in their
history. But it is does not appear that this punishment
was ever inflicted by heaven upon the antient
Greeks.

4. The only offence of which any instance is
related of them is indeed an offence originating
in the corrupt appetite in question. It is not however
the same offence merely & which with us it
is
