Disablement
Gagging.
Gagging is has been used now and then as a mode
of punishment among the Military. It is attended
with some degree of pain, but not
very intense. It is used principally for the
sake of ignominy: in some degree for the
purpose of physical prevention, when the offence consists
in some abuse of the faculty of speech.
Manacles are called also Hand-cuffs, are instruments
made usually of iron: consisting of a
ring inclosing each wrist, and connected by a
bar of or chain? The patient's hands before they are thus connected are
placed sometimes in front of the his body, sometimes
before behind his back. This apparatus
disables him perfectly with respond to many kinds
