NOTE continued

The use that a man may have occasion
to make of his members in the course of his life depending upon such a multitude
of unfathomable contingencies, it is plain
that even either were the in the case of a given individual
however the amount of his what he would suffer
by the loss of them could not possibly be reduced
to any tolerable calculation.

It is not without pain a small mortification that I find myself obliged
to dwell on a subject so much beyond the
reach of my faculties, I believe I may venture
to say so much beyond the reach of human faculties
in general, & on which I am so unable to give
myself the reader or myself any tolerable satisfaction.
