With a view to Reformation: For offences punished
by Temporary Imprisonment let part of the Punishment
be to get by heart a certain part of
the Criminal Code including that part that relates
to the offence for which he was punished. It might
be digested into the form of a Catechism.

The Cells when fitted up in such a manner
as to exclude not to admitt the Light might be termed Dungeons.
This might be done by fixing to the outside of
the Windows a funnel of the same aperture, but
made to take one or more turns at right angles.
This would serve to exclude the light, without excluding
the Air. This circumstance of the excluding
the light is the only use of making Dungeons
underground.

Those speculators who have mean to propose proposed
the making that Darkness a part of the punishment should be an ingredient in penance
penitential Imprisonment, have done it by proposing exposed themselves
that a Dungeon for the place of confinement.
But a Dungeon confinement underground is, for want
of the lateral apertures of Doors and windows, imparts
