Dear Jerry,
I heartily congratulate you on your Recovery
from Inoculation. It was a mighty Pleasure
to us to hear that all was well over you, and
more especially, as we had but just before heard
of the Loss of Master and Miss Clarkes. I present
by you our sincere Felicitations to our honoured
and dear Aunt your good Grandmamma, and to our
cousins your dear Papa and Mamma on this happy
Event, assuring them that we in a considerable Degree
participate of their Joy. I could wish that
at your Years I had had the Opportunity of having
so alarming a Distemper in so favourable a Way;
for then I could have given myself the Pleasure of
congratulating you in Person, whereas I now can
do it only by Letter. I have long thought with
much Satisfaction of waiting upon my truly valued
Friends at Barking; but this Satisfaction great as
it is I must now unwillingly part with. For the
