Theodorus the Cyrenaean, a Philosopher by
inconsiderable: who being threatened with hanging by
king Lysimachus; "threaten your purple-coated fellows
"here, says he, with those terrible things, for Theodorus's —
"part, he does not care whether he rols from on high, or
"in the ground." which speech of his, puts me in mind of
saying something concerning burial and humation: a
thing not difficult; especially when we know, what has
been said before about a State of Insensibility concerning
which Socrates's opinion, appears in that book, which
describes his death; that we have already said so much of.
for when he had disputed concerning the immortality of
the Soul, and the time of his death was near; being —
asked by Crito, how he would be buried; "my friends,
"says he, I have spent much labour in vain: for I cannot
"persuade Crito here, that I shall fly away hence, and
"leave nothing of me behind me. yet Crito if you can
"follow and lay hold of me, bury me as you Please. but
"believe me when I am gone hence none of you all
"will overtake me'! that was admirably said; not to
refuse his friend, and yet to shew that he was quite
unconcerned about what befell of his body. Diogenes
who was harsher, and tho' of the same Opinion about
