I receiv'd Your favour of the 16th of last Month by
the hands of Mr. Skeet, which as it gave me your opinion with regard
to the affair of the Provost, made me congratulate myself that
I had acted conformable to it. as for the Common-Room, I did not
imagine you would take it so seriously as you did, I can assure
you I meant far otherwise than you imagine, it was only their
oddity I imagined might divert you; for my part I had no reason
to complain, as they then were, & still are very civil to me.
J Bills for this last Quarter out of his own accord, which somewhat
surprized me, as he had no Money of mine in his hands, nor
would ever before pay a bill without my signing: upon looking over
the Articles I found Sponsion 10.s 6:d which upon my demanding an
explanation he told me was for paying my Bills; that some People
gave it him, & some would not, those were his words, but that he
always pd Mr such an one Bills naming him, & charged that for
Identifier: | JB/537/186/001 "JB/" can not be assigned to a declared number type with value 537.
