Dear Brother Tuesday Morn
I told you when I saw you last that Mr Gray had
desired me to make a correct model of my Pump
against Saturday last, that the Surveyor might see
it. but I knew it could not be done scarce in double
the time tho' I did not tell him so, being unwilling
the Surveyor should see it. Notwithstanding it was
not done Mr Gray told the Surveyor I was making an
improvement on the chain Pump. I will not pass
judgement upon his answer but leave it for you to do
least you should think me prejudiced, but it was,
"These things may look very pretty in a model but none"
"of them will answer in the gross there have been many"
"contrivances but some will do" without having seen or
