Situation, it cannot but be a very favorable one, for the
purpose of such a work as he has in hand, & which I hope
to see compleated by the time, he comes to Town, which
I suppose will be about the same time that we shall
Return thither from here.— here we have been a fortnight
last monday, and are much pleas'd with our Habitation
which is at a Mrs Stretch's, on the South Parade from
whence we have a delightful View of the Countrey. I
drink the waters regularly every Day, & find they agree
with me very well. hitherto, what benefit I may reap
from them afterwards can only be known by experience.
It must give Mrs. Davies great spirits, to hear so agreable an
account of her Husband's Success, & to think, she will
have so much better & more commodious a Habitation
to receive him in upon his Return: but he is making
so good a use of his Time where he is: that his friends
can hardly wish it may be a speedy one — surely
it won't be long now before we have some further
account from Lord & Sir William How, in hopes yet
their & General Burgoignes operations may prove
decisive, wch becomes every day of more & more
Importance, as the Season for action approaches so
near to a conclusion — you will wonder when I tell
you, that, I, who was not at one Play last winter,
have been at Three together, this last week, to see
the new Rosciers, Henderson, who bids fair to rival
Garrick in the powers of action, he has shew'd off at the
Haymarket all the summer, & has come down here
only for a fortnight to take leave of Bath, & its Theatre
being engag'd at Drury Lane — where I doubt not, but
he will be follow'd as much as Garrick was,
especially in the Part of Sir John Falstaffe in which
