To S.B. Linc Inn. May 4 1779

In the letter I received from Mrs D (did I mention
it?) before I received that from Mrs D. he desired me
to tell you that he had no further use for James Carpenter
and wanted to have your direction what to do with him.

I have been 3 or 4 times trying to get to the speech of Lind
but have not yet been able. This is rather unlikely: however I think I
can make use of seeing him tomorrow. As soon as I do, you shall be
sure to hear.

Dr Mulford has just been drinking tea with me. I have communicated
to him your Russian scheme, with which he is much pleased. He approves
of it "totibus manibus."

This afternoon came a box with some your things from .
Your books are to be sent hereafter. I have not had time yet to
take out the things. At top was a letter from her to me containing
nothing very material.

I suppose you have heard the news from Jeremy. — I'll say
nothing of it.

On Sunday I had the happiness of dining at Q.S.P.
in company with your dear friend Dr Chelsome. He told us that
Dr Thurlow the Chancellor's Brother may have the vacant Bishoprick (Lincoln)
if he chooses it: but that it is thought he will decline it: I can tell on account
you of the laboriousness of the duty, owing to the largesses of the diocese.
I can tell you however from still better authority that he will accept
