Inley Park. Aug. 3. 1779

My dear Sam

While you continue on this side the ocean, it is a
pleasure to me receive Letters from you, & to send you others
in exchange, an Intercourse however agreeable & pleasing
to me that will soon lessen, by the distance you are
bent upon. It is well my dear Child, that your Spirits
hold out amidst the continual hurry you are in, &
the variety of people you have had applications to. Your
reasons for procrastinating your destination to Petersburgh
are such that I cannot pretend to object to; all that
I can say upon the Subject is, that I hope you will take
care of your safety & your health in removing from
one place to another wherever & whenever you go.

You forgot to tell me whether you have got any &
what Letters from Sneyd or not. It is proper I shod.
know that I may know how to act myself, in relation
thereto. Letters of Recommendation seem to have showered
upon you so thick from all Quarters, or rather to all
Quarters, that you have a very good Prospect of being
