dear Brother, & tell him, you have made me & him, in a
manner strangers to Each other, as you have taken up so
much of our thoughts. I depend on a Letter of adieu, before
you embark, with the name of the Ship, & the place of it's
Destination, with the Rout you propose to make - that I may
have the Comfort & satisfaction of accompanying you in Idea,
wch. is all that you can give me upon your departure. I
hope you will take with you, a good Quantity of large thin
Paper to write to me & such others of your friends as may
wish to hear from you, I mean the sort, wch. your Mother
& Charles makes yUse of to write to Each other, your Brother
is well acquainted with it. some few Irish wafers may
be of use, to wafer your Letters, as well as Seal them, since
the former will render them less more difficult to open, than
the latter, tho' the latter may be of immediate use, before the
wafer is quite dry. & I wod advise you to take down in
writing in your Pocket Book, of every Particular of Apparel
& every thing else that you Carry with you; that you may
be certain upon every occasion, & whenever you remove from
one place to another, that you have all your things with you.
but the Time of the Post's going out from Brackly obliges me
to lay aside my Pen & will allow me to add no more than
best wishes from us all & that I am
your affecte Father
