letter from a hand unknown to you: Was I less
attached to your brother, and less acquainted
with your character, I should have been more
Scrupulous in complying with the desire I have
of being known to you; the friendship I observe between
you, gives me room to hope for your forgiveness.
I became acquainted with your brother at
his arrival at Moscow, (an acquaintance I hold the
most dear and the most valuable I ever made) :
having with him no letters to any one of the place,
he permitted me to introduce him to the Vice Roi
and all the principal families of the town, where
during his short stay he received all the civilities
and attention he so well merits: every body found
