being paid for it. He told me himself when I was at Dantzic, that he had just had some people addressed to him from the
Secretary of State who had been sent in search of Ship timber & Naval Stores. On this account then Barstow
may be in the right that it is but asking for it to have it. but in such case as he says also it certainly would not be worth
having. If however they want somebody to do their business there, for such part as relates to Naval Stores, I think I
may be supposed as for as anybody else: and certainly they must give a salary to whoever they contract. I explained
in my former why it would be particularly advantageous for me. I have nothing more to say, nor will I think of it, but
mind my business here. Adieu.
