They were gone, at least the gentlemen were, to dine with
Sr James Long, the nephew hæres designatus of Ld. Tilney. When
my Lord came in, he ran up to me and touched one of my
cheeks with his, and then the other. I was well satisfied with
it since he meant it kindly, & since such, I suppose, is
the fashion: but I should have been still better satisfied, if
he had made either of the ladies his proxy.
