From the last note which I received from you while I was at
Nique Zaghil I expected fully to fai have the pleasure of
meeting you at my arrival at Perme this place knowing
that the Count Stroganoff was there. But my disappointment
was great when I understood your journey was at an end at
Moscow I and I was particularly sorry that your bad
health was the cause. 1st with respect to the Natural
history of Spain by Bowles & Carver's Marvels in Nature
which you imagine to have lent me, I assure so
far from having had them I have never seen either
of those works.

in this country by an Englishman whose name I forget
which you were so obliging as to lend me by mistake
I have not taken with me. They are with my
books at Petersbourg and I know not how I can
get them delivered to you before I come myself.
I came here for the purpose of being present at the
introduction of the new mode of the new mode of Jurisdiction
in this part of the country with the opening of the new Government.
Count & Baron Strogonof's have been here. The Count set off
on his return to Petersbrg yesterday. I had a great deal
of satisfaction in an hour or two's conversation with Mr
