I have been looking out I don't know how
long for the pleasure of a letter from you: your plan
being of the itinerant kind, and mine stationary, I took it
for granted you would let me know as soon as you were
fixed. Possibly you may already have sent me a letter
which owing to a misapprehension of my homme d'affaires
in town may have failed hitherto of coming to hand.
As a letter I received from him last night contains some public
intelligence to which you might not otherwise have access,
I do not know but I may send it to you with this.
An inclosure which will be rather more interesting to
you is a pretty long letter of Sam's dated Irkutsk June 16th
that is the 27. 1782. I received it last night, but not till after
the post was gone: what part of it I shall send you by this
post, or whether my part I am not yet determine, as I must
pass it by me till I have had time ti send him the answer
he requires. You will regret with me that the account I gave him
