put them in order, I hope your Lordship will do me the
honour to accept of one of the best of these collections.
with the rest besides one which I have destined for the
Museum I flatter myself I shall be able to oblige many
of my friends.

I have stayed here longer than I
proposed on account of the Empress's expressing a wish
of talking to me in private. The arrival of the Grand
Duke, and the many annual feasts that fall out
about this time have hindered me as yet from having
that honour.

I have had the pleasure of cultivating very much
the acquaintance & friendship of Mr Shanwaloff the
great Chamberlain, with whom your Lordship has
very often been the subject of our conversation.
A few days ago the Empress honoured him with the Order
of St. Andrew, and shortly before he received that
of St Woladinen a new order of merit just now
