Petersburg 13th Decr 1782.

Here am I still & the Lord only knows how long I shall be
here. By one of the last Ships which sails from this port
I sent so much of my minerals other natural productions &c
as have reached this place. There were 10 separate parcels
the boxes marked G.H.I & K you should open because
they contain a mixture of things, the rest contains minerals
only, except the large basket which contains stuffed birds.
The box I is rather smaller than the rest and covered with
green oiled cloth, it contains 5 bottles of Astrackan
wine. G contains besides loose minerals 3 or 4 small
boxes which together contain 3 complete collections of minerals
similar to the larger ones, of which they may serve as
samples. In one of these 3 or 4 little boxes is an earthen pot
full of the natural possile alkali which you will
examine as soon as possible. K & H contain also as
well as minerals some smaller boxes of which one is
full of Rhubarb, another of tea, another contains small
purchases I made at Kiachta. In short these parcels
that were intended to have been sent some by land, others
