Petersburg Decr 30 1782 P.S.

I can scarcely persuade myself to write to you because
I have not as yet any thing very material to tell you about
myself what I am doing here. about 10 days ago the
Empress read a paper of mine relating to the Aconomancy
of the mines & salt works, with which she was much
pleased and desired that I would give my observations
plus in detail and this is what occupies me at
present. I shall finish this I hope in a few days
but it will not be proper to give for this week to
come at least on account of the hollidays. I will
send you copies and I hope some account of the result
by an opportunity which I expect to offer about the
middle of next month. I think to send you at
the same time a collection of seeds of plants peculiar to
Siberia. I hope you have before this time received
through Ld S. the minerals &c which I sent. Although
