The Stroganoffs are seem perfectly ready to accede to all the
particulars of the terms of engagement which I had proposed
to them and I make no doubt but some other proprietors
of mines as well as Saltworks would do the same
The general condition would be these.
That the engager receives no emolument till the increased
profit has repaid to the proprietor the expences of erecting
machines and introducing the improvement but from that
time the term is to take its date separate for each improvement during which the
Engager is to receive his part.
.
The term to be 10 years and of all the profits arising
from each improvement, the Engager is to have one third
pait during the above term.
All expences relating to the introducing the improvements
to be defrayed in the first instance by the Proprietor
who is to be reimbursed as mentioned in the first article
before the Engage term of the engagement begins
to take its date. Foreign workmen, models, instruments
and the like to be sent for in the same manner at the
expence of the Proprietor. The sum to be allotted for
this purpose not yet determined on.
An eighth part of the addition profit to be set by as gratification
money to be distributed perfectly at the will of
the Engager to such persons as he and in such proportion
