Have your heard anything more of your ingenious fellow of a weaver.
of whom you told me such great things on the faith I suppose of a
friend of yours of the name of Townsend. Such men as Burkitt & he
would be treasures indeed to me, and I could be sure of putting them
in a way of making money though I should not be able to find
employment for them myself.

exercises what trade he pleases, so that Burkit might make
fiddles, harpsichords & guittars, set in artificial teeth, make milk
punch, shine in high varnishing, & cut paper without the least
molestatuion in selling his handyworks, and without paying
a farthing of taxes. His handicraft abilities independent of his
inventive tallent might be turned to his & our common advantage
in various ways.
