the assurances she has given me
I leave the management to her
She will surely be mine and conceive if you can the transports I must
sometimes feel — Besides I seem to have every body inclined to serve me
in this respect. and there is a general outcry against the parents for their
Malhorusness and against the girl for her submission. She poor
creature who is suffering seems to find no pity; and I also have everything to
flatter & console me am urged on to excite her to wait for no consent.
A Person of the first consideration has actually interceded for me with the Parents
without my knowing anything of the matter, and offers to do it again here
whenever I think proper. She however inticats me so much to leave it
entirely to her that I must be as patient as possible. I may then
yet be the happiest man existing. my friend Pleschijoff dined
in company with her by mere accident 2 days ago: what passed between
him & her has most of all contributed to convince me of her attachment.
He concludes a note he wrote to me come to invite me to come and
hear what he had to tell me with this delighfull
sentence "She is yours"
"or there is no certitude in this world." What shall I suffer if after
this my hopes are frustrated!
You must excuse me I cannot
write to you anymore on any other subject at present. I have been for
these two days past in most violent agitations, it is today only that I
am capable of occupying my I am in hope to take advantage
of the degree of spirits which my present prospect inspires me with now
and then to pursue my inventions which may in the end contribute to
my success. Adieu it is today only that I have been able to sit down to
write to her — the only person who has a possibility of rivalling you in my affection.
