an Inconsistency in Our Author, in Page 23 , he tells you that Barristers &
Attornies will be rendered useless by the Simplicity of this Code, in Page
32, he says (in the Chapter on Real Property) that all Parties may attend & plead
their own Cause or authorize others to plead for them, giving them what
Reward they choose. — What is this in fact but restoring things to their
Present Footing. — No Man would trust to his own Pleading, where he could get
a Professional Man learned in the Laws to do it for him. ——

I think we never have had a Digest of the Laws of England made,
tho' a Work proposed by Chancellor Bacon, & which I conceive would
be of considerable Use. it is to be lamented that he did not
execute it as he intended in his own Time, he would have
laid an excellent Corner Stone for future Workmen to build
upon. —
