& in the morning where she let down a letter to me
written in pencil by a string and which after taking home to answer
I returned and gave her up the answer by the same
means and at the same time raised an appendix from her. A maid of her mothers saw this let the
mother know who came & caught her at the
window with the string, so from that time she has
been close watched her head chambermaid changed and
for some time she was obliged to sleep in the same
room with her mother. Her aunt has not spoken
to her since though She they meet almost every
day. She refuses the resists the attempts her
friends have made to induce her to renounce me
but submits to the injunctions her mother gives her
not to mention my name to them. To me She
still professes her determination to continue
her attachment and but seems to hope that not to
to her perseverance for the inducing her friends to
consent. For my part I can flatter myself from
her the care with which she submits to the injunctions
