visit the capital. For defraying the expences of the voyage you will
receive credit on some banker in London for five hundred rubles, this
supposed to suffice for 10 Persons at 50 rubles each in case that Anderson
or L'Entrep:: whoever he bethinks fit to bring that number of
persons with him. All is at your discretion and the means of avoiding
the unevailable intentions of tyrannical laws must
be left to you likewise. The credit in your name appears to be for
the executing uncertain & unknown commissions.

If Anderson alone should come out for this undertaking I suppose
he would not touch this sum for himself: but if he brings any body
with him as for example his sons, then there is no reason why he should
not take the 50 rubles for himself as well as for his son & each of the persons
he brings with him. If a fewer number of persons come out and unforeseen
expences of travelling to the port from whence the ship sails
makes it necessary to exceed £ the sum of 50 rubles for each person, as
far as 60 or even 70, dont let that consideration be an impediment.
If Anderson and Burket come by way of Petersburgh then all
stands as before. Burkets expences will be paid some how or other
and I would insure that Mr. Anderson should not have any travelling
expences to defray if he can find any inducement to visit me.
You may tell him this, do not however say that I would pay these
expences myself, for that I am sure would not be agreeable to him
to hear from me, nor should I think of doing it but as the most
affectual means of removeing the idea which the length of the journey
in this country must give him of the expences attending them.

With Burket the expences of horses enough for both would be
Paid beforehand if I were at Petersburgh and repaid some time or
