In case you have heard by no other means to what house those who
whi wish to come to me by way of Riga may address themselves for
advice &c and in case of necessity for money. I have beg'd Mr
Shairpe to write to Messrs Thorley, Merisen & Auchterlancy for
that purpose.

The Scotch families to the amount of 139 persons which
I told you were arrived at Petersburgh are all settled according to
their destination in the new Town of Sophia near Zassco Sello 20
versts from Petersburgh. They consisted of different artists and
tradespeople so at least I have just this instant learnt from
2 ladies just came from Petersburgh and whom as they stopt here
on their way I have been obliged to do the honours of the master of
the wh house to. This has hindered me 2 or 3 hours which vexes me
as I must dispatch Notman in a few hours for him to go with a
Courier dispatched to the Prince from his other estate of Dubrovine
130 versts from here. The Souls of the inhabitants of the town
of Sophia are entrusted to Sambouski as probably are the
bodies of the Scotch Colony.

I have been writing a pretty long letter to my Father
