Pleschijeff has taken lodgings in the English line almost
solely that we may be together at dressing &c, if we
are unavoidably separated the greatest part of the day.
He has contrived that my part of the lodgings shall cost
me scarcely any thing, and yet I shall make more use
of his than he will.
People talk a good deal here I believe about
the Empress's intended journey to her new territories in
Poland. The Grand Duke will stay at Czarzcko-zelo.
Pleschijeff will be with him, during which time I shall
have the lodgings to myself; not that I shall be the
happier for that.
Dr Guthrie tells me that he has been talking with
some of his learned friends upon the subject, and that if
I have no objection I am to be a member of
the Oeconomical Society here. As it is a Society
very much respected, and I believe is very little if any expence
