there seem to be still worse executed in that absolute Monarchy than under
our mixt and limited government: the very Master of the Custom-house had

I happen'd to dine today in company with a Mr John King as he calls
himself, and the Countess of Lanesborough in Ireland, who pass for man and
Wife. The account that I heard of him from good authority at Florence
where he has also been, is, that he or is a Jew money-lender or rather was
while he had money to lend, for now he is more disposed to borrow — that
he repudiated a Jewess he had to his wife, according to the Jewish Law,
which however good it may be in the Synagogue is I doubt of no great

Neptune I think it was, in one of the London Newspapers; that he had a
verdict against him for a thousand pounds, to free himself from which he
got himself made Bankrupt, but paid 20s in the pound. He has for some time
