Constantinople Nov.r 25. 1785

I dined on Monday the 21st with Duke Humphrey;
I dined on Tuesday the 22d with our Embassador
on Wednesday the 23d with the Imperial Minister.

Yesterday the 24th I dined with a Mad French
Jeweller who perhaps may be of more use to me
than all their Excellencies.

Yesterday morning I saw from the French Ambassador's
Palace, the public Entry of the Venetian, a confused
and ridiculous Scene.

Here, as at Smirna, I found Sir Richard Worsley,
I wished him at the Devil, God forgive me, or what
would have come to the same thing, with his wife
but for him I should have lodged at Smirna with
the Consul, and him with the Embassador, but Sir
Richard and his Painter, Mr Revely coming first,
had been first served, to these two his Excellency adds
a Third Guest the Honble Cadogan, so that his
Spare Room, he says, is constantly taken up, otherwise
as he had the politeness to assure me, He should have
insisted upon my taking up my Quarters at the Palace.
Nothing can be more friendly, or obliging: he offered
at the first Interview, to fit up, for the Company I have
with me, the Infirmary belonging to his Palace,
or to furnish an unfurnished Lodging, of which he
had heard we had the option.

I found my brother's Old Friend & Fellow Traveller Mr Eaton
here, he is to the last degree friendly & obliging a most pleasing &
intelligen man, I hope to see him at Kritchoff, perhaps not him
thither.
