Yes, said I to him; the manner in which you have
behaved is as noble as it is honest; I am satisfied
and forget all that is passed. upon that we were
reconciled in good earnest.
You now See, Sir, a succinct abridgment of the
whole that passed upon this occasion. The Prince
from the first moment shewed much regret for
having given me any offence; and in the whole
affair he conducted himself with all the Coolness,
and as nobly as was possible. It is a Justice that
I think myself obliged to do him.
As to what regards my own Conduct in this
Renconter, I have laid it open to you with the greatest
simplicity. I submit it to your Judgment, I desire
nothing so much as to merit your approbation;
I have it extremely at heart to be able to merit
the favorable opinion of my Friends, and all
honest Men.
I can learn nothing here of our Friend Mr.
Zeuthen; perhaps he may be at Kritchow,
salute him infinitely on the Part of your devoted
and very sincere Friend
T. Mellin.
