My dear Sons

You would not, because in the nature of things you could
not, be much surprised to hear your Father was no more, but I am
sensible you may well be surprised should you see him where
you are. The great pleasure the Letter, of the 26th January
from Riga, gave me to find the writer of it had acquired so
promising an establishment at Critchoff; and the little Chance
I have reason to think there would be of my seeing you or
Either of you again for some years if ever in this Country,
together with the approaching Summer, and the favourable
disposition of my present State of health (not likely, on
account of my advanced Age, to continue ) indeed one
one morning while we were at Breakfast a few days
ago, to throw out a Proposal to your Mother of making
a Tour abroad our Country House this next Summer
and of bending our Course towards Critchoff, which She
was so good to come into, and to asure me of her readiness
to accompany me and take care of me, provided I would
engage to go thither by Land (except from Dover to Calais)
through Germany — The account, the Riga Letter gave,
me, of my dear Sam's having Visitors now and then, made
me conclude he might be able to provide us with a Bed,
and as for every other Circumstance, if it please God to give
us health, our pleasure will be to be as much out of Doors,
and to look about us in the Part of the Country at or about
Critchoff as possible — To see you both and to be personally
