have had two days thaw. This has been the most
severe winter the Tartars have felt for 35 years
the Frost began the 15th Oct.r N.S. & continued
with very little till now. The
Mercury in The Thermometer fell 41 degrees
below frost the 30th Janry, but it has been
several times within 4 or 5 degrees of that
cold.

We had in the month of Jany last a Visit
of Prince Potemkin, he made a Stop of about
3 weeks in the Crimea during which time
his Highness did us the honour to dine with
us twice. We expect the Empress here
in the Course of 5 or 6 weeks but I suppose
you know more of the history of her Expedition
than we who never see Newspapers or
Magazines, & never receive any Letters
from England or anywhere Else.
