our own Couriers to take charge of them; on which
account I must wait till the frost breaks sufficiently
for our trading vessels to undertake a voyage to
Petersburgh, when I intend to endeavour to get the
little cargo of books conveyed thither by sea, in which case
I shall esteem it a particular obligation favour if you
will permit me to consign the parcel to you,
as I shall be satisfied it will be perfectly safe
in your hands, flattering myself that you will
be so good to take the earliest opportunity of
sending it forward to my son.
Give me leave to assure you, you cannot make
me happier, my dear sir, than by honouring me
with any commands from you, in which I may be
capable of rendering you the least service here.
The last letter I received from my son was so
long ago as June; but I can easily imagine
that his time & thoughts have been too much
engaged upon the spot where he is, to admit
of his bestowing much of them upon his connections
in England.
