Minute Philosophers, some perhaps might think it would not
be much to his advantage , which however might be thought
less so in these enlightened Times of free Enquiry, as Free-thinkers
are not now looked upon in so formidable a light as they
were here to fore.

These few Anecdotes that I have taken the Liberty to
mention, by way of Explanation of the Picture is the only addition which your Lordship could
have occasion for, to know as much of the Person they
relate to as even his own Father; since to the best of my
recollection he has passed more Days and Slept more Nights
under your Lordship's Roof than he has what done ever
under my own from the Time of his first going from Westminster School to Oxford.

altho' he has experienced as affectionate a Welcome and
Reception from me, as any Son ever did from a Father
and conscious as I am that I have never been —
deficient in any respect that could have the least —
tendency to his happiness & advantage. My comfort
however is that the Satisfaction he enjoys arises so It is however some satisfaction to me that, what
so much from himself that no Accidents of Life are
likely to deprive him of it, while he has that share
of health and soundness of Mind which he has at present, & which seems
to promise to be lasting and that it may long
continue to be so, when I am no more, is a wish
with which, I am persuaded, your Lordship will have
the goodness to allow me to conclude the trouble I have
now given you, with the assurance that I am with the
most perfect regard
