to secure a part of the Prize Money; as for me I consider'd myself as
having, with respect to views of Profits, purchased a Ticket in an
indifferent Lottery, and have never received any letter from Either
of the Persons concerned with me; I shall probably see some of them
soon.

The Affairs of France are so interesting that I don't care to
read the News-Papers for fear of occupying myself too much
about them. I endeavour to turn my attention from all
Events in which I cannot meddle, as I have Variety enough
in my Pursuits never to want amusement

The Letters I have reced, Sir, from you since the One April
1789 are one of 16 March 1789 one of April 8. One of Sept.r 15 —
It gives me the greatest pleasure that this last Letter of yours
seems written with as firm a hand as any I ever remember
to have seen of your Writing, and the smallness of the Character
proves the goodness of your Eyes, which at your Age must be
a particular happiness.

Be asured, Sir, that it must be a very important Consideration
respecting my Pursuits that can induce me to postpone any
longer the pleasure I promise myself in embracing a Father
who is so anxiously interested in my Welfare, in the
Course of a Month I hope to inform you of my having
obtained permission.

My last letter from my Brother is dated Sept.r 3. 1789, I know
not what he is about but am happy to hear through you
that he is well.

Aug.t 22d I am just this Instant setting out from hence, and
before I seal This, let me once more repeat my wishes that
you may long yet enjoy the same health and Spirits which
appear in your last Letter, and believe me, dear Sir, to be
with the sincerest affection
Your dutiful Son
S.B.

Recd at Bath on Sunday the 9th Sept.r 1790.
