of their Due or seeing their Debtor,
than a Banker presented himself
required every one to bring in their
demands & fully Satisfied them, after
which our Coll shewed himself again
in another Part of the Town with a
new House in a Condition to continue
the same Train. notwithstanding this
Conduct, however on account of some
little Impeachment to his honour, his
Brother Officers in the Swiss Guards —
being remarkably scrupulous with
respect to appearances forced him
to quit that Corps, his Rank corresponding
with that of Colonel in the
Army; whether this Circumstance
or further bad Luck was the Cause,
he engaged about that time to accompany
the Dutchess of Kingston to
Petersburg where he accordingly
arrived. It appears that the Dutchess
had engaged besides defraying the
Expenses, some pecuniary gratification
to the Colonel for his Attendance
as it likewise appears that such attendance
was not free from such disagreements
as might be expected from her
Grace's Disposition, for one day while
