I am very Sorry to inform you that the Rain
I Expected, Sett in before I was prepared, and the Weather
Was so Exceeding, Severe, and our People being almost
naked, I was able to Raft but 100 Trees here; I have
however made Shift to Lay two Keels of 45 Foot, altho'
the Timber is so small that I am obliged to Scarf, both
Keels; The Commandant has Let me have the Master
Builder, and promise me two Ship Carpenters, which
will be of very Great Service as our people are very
ignorant of Ship building, be sure to send here pitch,
and Tar, as soon as possible, as I can obtain but 16 poud
and there is no more in the Town, either private property
nor in the Empressess's Magazine. our plank will be
all saved in the Wood, and drawn here by dogs, this will
be very tedious Work, and is all owing to the Misconduct
of our Ensign, by delaying in Yakitsky 18 days —
because an Acquaintance was going to be Married; —
Inclosed I send you an Account, of what things he
Ordered the People to Sell, threatning them Severely
if they brought above one Shirt with them.. I Likewise
Send an Account of what the People Lost, through
his Misconduct, owing to his Letting, Merchants above
