Bender 19/30 December 1790

Hond Sir.

It is now about 4 months I am here, spending
my time in the most pitiable manner. you may well
imagine that Prince Potesenk is had enough to think of
here without concerning himself about my Siberian
business; so that without having any reason to
complain of my treatment, my affairs are nearly
in the same state as they were at my arrival,
any other but me would find argument in the
mean time in being at the Source of all news
relating to the War, but having Projects of my
own, I am become as indifferent as possible to
every thing in which I do not meddle.

It is near three weeks that I have had in my
Pocket, a Passport of three months for England,
resolved to pay you a Visit, be it ever so short
a one; but I am not yet sure, it I can come
this winter, or whether I must not stay a few
months longer. I never before spent four months
