It is so long since I have any Account whether you
are sailing on the Black White Bed or Yellow Seas,
or in short whereabouts you are, that I was not surprized
when I heard from the Bearer Maj.r Neuton that you
were in the place I should have of all others
thought the most unlikely England, however I am
glad of it since I think in your return it gives
us a chance of meeting. You are long ere this
acquainted with the extraordinary death of that
extraordinary Man which creates the suspence
we are all now in. It has yet had no suites,
except what might be expected the falling off
of his flatterers, who are beginning to revile his
Memory, and by the time you return, I dare say
he will be as much forgotten as if he had never
existed. The people who seem to be coming in are
the Soltikows, but as yet nothing marked has
been done. I suppose great changes in the Army
