Now for other Business, pray inform yourself
whether there has been any material Alteration
in chefs, Accoutrements in the Army particularly
as to what relates the L. Infantry, of which I am
forming a Company in my Regiment, and
that you may have no excuse to say you do
not know where, I will tell you that, Hume Shoe
& Boot maker in Pall mall is the most celebrated
man for Accoutrements; look at Robertson's Turk
Makers in Bond Street for Cantine's, and see what
new Inventions of that Sort have been made, Size
Contents, Price &c. bring patterns of any thing you
may think worth imitating. As for commissions I
have but one to trouble you with, which is to procure
me ten round Fife Cases, like those of the R.l Guards
except that instead of the King's Arms, the Imperial
Eagle & Empress's Cypher must be painted on them.
I do not think you will see any of my Acquaintance
in England, if you do, tell them I am alive and
well, and grown fat, notwithstanding a great deal
of Exercise, and a great deal of Scurvy which I contracted
in Finland. M.rs F. is likewise in her usual good Health
and Spirits and the Children much as you left them
only grown taller — Such is my Account of my
Family to which I have only to add for myself
that I shall ever be Dr Bentham
Yours very sincerely
